Training For Rockwell

A typical Training Ride done in the months before RockWell Relay. (Click on picture to view larger)

Cold morning ride, Jared had the searches out the quickest way to gain 7000k of climbing.

I think I may have underestimated this climb. 7000+ Feet of climbing in 21miles? Who does this? Why?
Nathan, Jared and I set out early from Harriman Ut. The idea was to hit the top of Rose Canyon descend a couple miles and cut over to Butterflied Canyon. Then climb the road to top hook up with the dirt road and ride to the top of the overlook of the Copper mine, back to our cars.

It was epic, done on our mountain bikes because 3/4 of the ride was on dirt fire road, STEEP dirt fire road. If you have never been up Rose Canyon, you will know it has a section on the upper half that is about 1.5 miles long that is above 15% Grade with a good chunk above 20%, after that it never drops below 8. Epic climbing.
Unfortunately once you drop out of Rose canyon to Butterfield canyon it puts you right at the steep section of Road. Estimated at near 20% for 1/4 mile the rest of the canyon going up averages 8% Grades.
